I happened to notice something interesting on a cooking show the other day.
\nIt was that food reporters shouldn’t say things like “delicious” or “tasty.”
\nThe reason is simple: saying “delicious” or “tasty” is far too easy an expression, and a true reporter should be able to
\nconvey what something is really like by describing it through all five senses.
\nAfter the show made that point, nobody could just say “tasty” or “yum” anymore, and everyone felt
\njust how difficult it is to report on food properly.
\nBut I’m just an amateur, so “delicious” and “tasty” are fine for me.
\nSpeaking of chicken, there’s been a lot of buzz lately about that chicken place, but honestly, my record there is one win and two losses.
\nThe problem comes down to inconsistent grilling. When they grill it too much, the delicious fat drains away and the meat gets tough.
\nThat’s a bit of a drawback. Also, the place gets so lively and crowded that eating out with everyone isn’t as enjoyable as you’d think it would be.
\nThat’s just how it is.
\nSo today I really wanted to eat chicken (I love okonomiyaki the most, but that got vetoed), so
\nI headed to the yakitori place from my past rankings \u2606 Of course, the number one spot near the old racetrack! \u266a
\nWhen I called, they were packed and couldn’t seat anyone, but a well-run shop is different!
\nThey said they’d prepare a table and call me back shortly.
\nAfter I gave them my name and number, they called back a few minutes later saying, “It’s been a while! We’re ready for you now, so we’ll be waiting for
\nyou.” Ah, they remembered me\u2014this chicken fanatic! That made me so happy.
\nSo right away \u266a The three of us\u2014me, mjshachou, and the boss\u2014had our first dish, and I was blown away by the liver! This is it!
\nThe liver here is something else\u2014it’s so plump and chewy! \u266a No gaminess at all, it’s the best \u2606
\nThe amazing experience kept going, and I really felt that this place is definitely number one.
\nWhen you go out to eat with me, please set the heat to “low, medium, or high.” The higher you go, the more the table fills up, so be careful!
\nI was so blown away that I actually fell asleep in the bath.
\nThat’s been happening a lot lately. I’ll be careful not to drown.
