On November 4th and 5th, we closed the shop and went on an overnight tour.
\nSince this was our first overnight tour, and considering our track record of constant trouble,
\nI had nothing but a bad feeling that something would go wrong.
\nBefore we left, I asked, “You’ve packed some basic tools on your bikes, right?” but nobody answered me (I didn’t have any either).
\nAlright, let’s go! We don’t ride as a group.
\nOur paces are different, and in a long convoy, the riders at the back have a harder time with traffic lights and lane splitting.
\nSo, let’s meet up at K\u014dfu-tsu on the Saisho coast! \u266a
\nNow we’re off. First, we need to decide where to fill up with gas. If we fill up at the entrance to the Daisan Keihin, it gets crowded,
\nso we’ll do it along the way.
\nAnd then we cruise smoothly! The stalling issue has improved, so we can ride with confidence.
\nOur secret weapon: ETC! This thing is amazing \u266a Honestly, for motorcycles it’s absolutely essential! No matter how fast you go on the highway,
\ngetting stuck at a toll booth is no good.
\nSafety comes first.
\nOn the way to Route 134 along the coast, we ran into some nasty clouds\u2014a thunderstorm!
\nOh no! Flash! Rumble rumble! Pouring rain!
\nCome on! The forecast didn’t say anything about rain!
\nIt was pouring! I took shelter at a convenience store, bought a 1,000-yen rain poncho, and continued on.
\nThe rain stopped partway through, and when I thought we’d made up for lost time and arrived at the PA, nobody was there…
\nWhy? Apparently, while I was buying and putting on the rain poncho, everyone else had taken shelter somewhere else.
\nIt got completely dark, and our broke crew chose the old road through Manazuru, which has few streetlights. \u266a
\nIt was dark. The smoke shield was completely useless! I should have switched to a yellow one.
\nAs we kept going and couldn’t see much, I decided to open the shield…
\nWhoa! The road surface is wet! I hadn’t noticed at all!
\nI thought I might slip at the seams\u2014it was a close call.
\nAnyway, we made it safely to the inn and moved on to the party portion.
