The rain keeps going on through May… these days I really don’t want the rainy season to start.
\nIt’s a CB1300SF. There are all kinds of problems with it…
\nWant to fit a fairing! \u2192 The throttle cable hits the screen dead-on.
\nWant to add a radial pump! \u2192 When you grip it, it hits the handlebar switch and you can’t grip it fully…
\nSo what do we do?
\nIf we make the lever straight, we can avoid the radial pump problem, but the screen won’t work…
\nIf we route the throttle cable down from below it would work, so that’s why we’re combining them.
\nThis is a technique we do pretty often, and the switches and such look STD-style at first glance, which is nice.
\nThe combination of today’s thin switches and aluminum throttle housings feels kind of off.
\nI don’t like it.
\nSo I ordered one for a CB1000SF. We could rewire it and use it, but I don’t really want to bend the tab once and then
\nstraighten it out to use it again\u2014considering the possibility of trouble, we’ll just use the case!
\nThere we go, all done! We don’t even need to stare at the wiring diagram. But if the switch is worn out, a new one is
\nbetter.
\nSuzuki and others work pretty well too\u2014for oil-cooled models with single-cable carburetors and forced open-close setups, we use switch boxes from the GSF or naked bikes,
\nand of course the wire is from the naked bike too, so at first glance it looks stock!
