Suzuki’s legendary GS1000! This bike was never sold domestically\u2014basically the only way to get one is through a gray market import.
\nThe crankcase on my GS is cracked and I’ve repaired it, but there’s one spot I just can’t fix.
\nThat’s the reality of why I don’t really want to ride it much.
\nThis time it’s an oil leak, and let me tell you, it’s a real pain. I’m guessing this GS has had its engine pulled out before.
\nSomeone who didn’t know what they were doing must have installed the engine bolts left and right reversed.
\nThe lengths are different, so if you just screw them in, the case cracks\u2014that’s the problem! So I tried building it up from the outside with epoxy, but it just wouldn’t stick. No good.
\nIn the end, I had to pull the oil pan and build it up from the inside.
\nWhen I looked at it, I was like “whoa!” It’s pretty rough. I peeked in from the back and went “oh boy!”
