I slept for a dangerously long time… After grabbing dinner with Jaguar last night and getting home around midnight, I
\nwent to bed… and woke up at 7 PM… I slept for 19 hours and now I’m heading to work…
\nBut first, I’ve got my daily blog update to do…
\nThis time it’s aluminum bolts! Suzuki’s factory used a lot of Phillips head bolts…
\nThese bolts were used in places like engine covers where structural strength wasn’t really a concern.
\nI had a hard time finding these kinds of bolts and searched all over for them!
\nIf you really love Suzuki, you can almost always say that this bolt is on the bike!
\nTry looking for it (for older bikes only, it’s fine up to the oil-cooled R)
\nWhen fastening dissimilar metals, there’s one thing you absolutely need to pay attention to: lubrication of the threaded part!
\nDon’t you find it strange? How screws buried deep in a hole can rust…
\nThere’s actually a proper mechanism for it… The electrical potential difference varies depending on the material.
\nElectrical potential difference is the difference in electrical potential (of course it flows from high to low)
\nSo you understand that. Current flows… that’s what happens…
\nAnd then corrosion starts rapidly and you end up in that sad situation where it won’t come off…
\nMake sure to lubricate it properly! There are all kinds of grease available.
\nSince there are various applications, use them appropriately!
\nQuestions like “Is this grease good?” are kind of off the mark
\n“What application is this suitable for?” is the way to go! I think…

\nBy the way, the photo below the screw shows aluminum parts like those used to attach fairings and such
