I can’t tell if I’m just diligent or if I have too much free time… really…
\nTruth is, I’m just an amateur enthusiast.
\nMy habit is to buy manga every day! Basically, I’ve stuck with not reading or buying for nearly 12 years because I like them.
\nBut lately I got hooked on “Akagi”\u2014apparently it’s a character from a manga called “Ten.”
\nSince I jumped straight to “Akagi” without reading “Ten”…
\nI read all 17 volumes (the next one hasn’t been released yet) and then moved on to “Kaiji.”
\nThere are three arcs, and I started with the newest one (mahjong) and the full hand game! Now I’m going from “Chinchirorin” to “Pachinko.”
\nGamblers are amazing at finding at least a 50% winning element, or at the very least.
\nAnyway, back to tappet adjustment! Even people who know about it probably aren’t doing it…
\nThe worst case is when it ends up like in the photo, and then the cotter (the buddy between the valve and retainer) comes off\u2014it’s terrifying.
\nIt becomes a real problem.
\nClearance is better when it’s larger rather than smaller! But too much is no good!
\nToo much = strong striking force (like swinging a hammer down for a long time) and you’ll end up like in the photo!
\nToo little = tight contact, scuffing, valve stuck open and running rough!
\nCheck it every 2 years or every 20,000 kilometers\u2014either way, you should!
