Oil-cooled maintenance campaign

Well, we finally got it done.
Why did it end up halfway through? Well, here’s the thing…
The head cover has gaskets called washers, and we use eight of them on the head cover.
But here’s the problem—
The count says eight, but there are only seven inside. Talk about a mix-up!
Now, the mileage is about 38,000 kilometers! Time to take a close look at what’s inside.
To be specific, the intake side is completely worn, but honestly, you could say there’s barely any scuffing at all.
There’s just a tiny speck or two, so there’s no problem.
When things are really bad, the contact is seriously harsh, and both the rocker arm and the cam lobe turn a burned color.
The engine interior is very clean with minimal sludge. You can tell the owner has been diligent about engine oil changes.
The cam chain has no slack and is in good condition.
As for carburetor synchronization, since an FCR is installed, we can’t get negative pressure, so we modified the intake manifold
to create a port to draw it from.
It was pretty rough at first, but now it’s clean and spot-on.
You can also use the analog method (feeler gauges and such), but when you can get it with a meter, you know the right answer
is there, and that’s pretty nice.
The engine damper is pretty worn down.
You could say it’s appropriate for the mileage.
It’s still a powerful engine.
