We have now closed out our 2017 business.
We opened the shop in 2002, and fifteen years have passed in what feels like the blink of an eye.
Even now, while I wrestle with the shop’s direction, I enjoy the work day by day.
I don’t fundamentally dislike custom or modification work, but given Tokyo’s location and market, it takes too much time to be a viable business.
Inspections and maintenance are what work really well for us. Please feel free to bring us your work—we’d love to handle your requests.
Something I notice more and more with each job request:
If it’s something extra added to normal work, I’m happy to discuss it. But if custom or modification work makes up more than half of a single job request, I need to think about it.
There are more specialized shops closer to you than us. Google will guide you well, so please search carefully.
With a vehicle I’ve never worked on before, I have to start with learning. Are parts available? Do manuals and parts lists exist? I have to figure out how to remove the bodywork.
There’s so much work beyond the actual job itself, and that’s what takes time and is painful.
Swapping in aftermarket parts is one of the joys of it.
We live in a wonderful age where almost everything can be customized with bolt-on parts. But people assume it’s all simple, compare market prices and finishes, and customization and modification work is definitely a challenging business.
I want to do work that avoids rework as much as possible, and that won’t cause problems even if another shop takes it apart.
If I cut corners, it comes back to hurt me. If I do it right, it comes back to help me. That’s true of everything.
Since I handle everything myself, it takes time, but I look forward to working with you again in the new year.
