This is the RF900 from Snow Damage Unit 1. We’ve restored the side stand, so now let’s do the front maintenance + SKF&ASH.
The steering, full of character, had rust developing as you can see.
It’s in quite sharp condition.
It’s in a state where anything we do will improve it.
The GSF1200 is the same way, but the plastic cover for waterproofing is a sharp idea. The movement is definitely much better, maybe?
We’ll reuse it and seal it properly.
Just having one isn’t enough—it’s better to check the movement before installation for even better results.
Especially the underside. Different manufacturers have significantly different damping strengths, so I’ll keep this in mind to avoid steering adjustment headaches.
While we’re at it, we’ll change from tapered to ball bearings.
Hopefully this will keep the sweet spot going strong for longer.
