We start with the rear caliper.
After time passes, it gets into this condition
No matter how much you wash and work it out, once the seal degrades, the effect is cut in half
The seal hardens and the inside corrodes and bubbles
The seal hardens and movement suffers, and the inside bubbles, causing the seal to deform and performance to drop.
Regular washing does help prevent performance loss,
but I’d say seal replacement at 20,000 to 30,000 kilometers is fair game.
If the piston movement is sluggish, it’s faster to disassemble and clean it ★
