Woke up from a nap all scattered…
Blog updates aren’t going so well~
Actually, my blog storage is completely full ☆
So I’ve been going back through old posts and manually shrinking ridiculously large photos…
When I upload multiple times a day, it feels like I’m using up that storage savings
I want to limit myself to shrinking one month’s worth of photos per day.
So tonight’s project is…
ZIPP 3001 – the photo shows a ZIPP-made final frame, naturally V-shaped.
I love this carbon frame from around the end of the 20th century, near the UCI regulation change
Since carbon can’t be fully repaired once it breaks, I want to protect it before it’s gone
Lately I’ve been wanting to build a bike, so I bought a frame and I’m working on one now
Well, I just want to build one. Though really, I’m just assembling parts – there’s almost no custom fabrication like you’d do with a motorcycle.
The first frame I’m tackling is the beloved “TREK Y FOIL 77”
I’m building it mostly with used parts!
I don’t need a front derailleur, so I’m leaving it off
The rear derailleur – honestly, anything works
For the shifter, I’m using an old lever-type, just one for the rear
The crank, seat, and rear derailleur were already on it, so I’m keeping them as-is
I have wheels, so I can swap them around. Bikes are amazing – as long as the dropout spacing matches, you can use any wheels ☆
So what I really need is…
Handlebars, stem, seatpost, shifter, and lever, I guess?
Once the frame is done, I’ll throw on the wheels I’m using now and it’s finished!
The old frame goes on the rack without wheels – no clutter
Oh, this way I could even add more bikes… so I’ve basically invented a box for new toys
Everything except the seatpost is already bought
I want to change the feel from the CORIMA, so the handlebars are MAVIC bullhorns ☆
Man, I can’t believe something like this showed up – lucky number 13!
That’s what I call lucky!
Once the FOIL is done, I’ll strip the front derailleur off the CORIMA too.
Then I’ll ride it in budget mode
