It took 30 minutes just to remove the fairings… We drained the oil, checked the spark plugs, inspected everything, but couldn’t find the cause…
When we removed the valve cover!!! Wow, the valve clearance is about 10 mm… both intake and exhaust…
They’ve deteriorated so much they’re beyond adjustment, but that wasn’t the source of the noise…
It cranks but something’s off? Is the cam chain tensioner not holding?
The auto tensioner has gone bad… and of course the cam chain is stretched out.
The cam lobes are flying all over! Oh man, this is hopeless… cause identified and we’re done!
Suddenly, Sero-san showed up saying the steering got stuck in the center and won’t move…

We put it inside and looked closely, really closely!!! Oh wow!
There were crush marks on the frame and stopper—a stone had jammed it and stopped it. The damage was right at the center position.
Dead center!!
