You’ll definitely want to check the passageway.
Next up is checking the float valve.
Modern valves have soft rubber tips. Older carburetors sometimes have metal ones, and they tend to leave marks.
Even if it doesn’t overflow, the fuel level can rise and cause poor running.
So take a good look and check whether there’s any step or ridge on it.
Now for the pin part on the other end. There’s a spring inside, and I’d like you to check whether this tension is present.
If the return is sluggish or stiff, replace it.
If it moves with a nice click, it’s good.
You’ll also want to check whether any debris has settled.
