I gave the brake shoe replacement I received yesterday a try ★
I’ve never done it before, so it’s a fresh experience.
Wheel removal—I undid the simple lever lock and loosened it with a hex wrench, and pop!
It came right off.
I cleaned the rim with brake cleaner to remove any friction material buildup.
I just chamfered the edge and assembled it, but something felt off.
It seemed to be dragging, so I puzzled over it, staring at it.
Wait—it’s cut in a V-shape!
So it has a pivoting structure.
Then
I raised it to the effective outer diameter and tightened it while holding it.
Then I adjusted the cable and finished.
All right, all right—it’s fixed, fixed! Glad that worked out.
It seems to brake better now, and the wheel rolls easier too.
The ride home should be fun ★
Now back to work.
