For those with a really long Golden Week, I guess it finally ends tomorrow.
Golden Week ended this year, but honestly I didn’t really need the break.
I’ll take time off next year.
I’m happy because I can take Tuesday off this week.
I’ve already decided where to go, so I need to work out the details.
The rear derailleur arrived today—I’m going to use it on my Trek Foil 77.
The derailleur that came on it originally is a weird design and shifting isn’t working right.
I replaced the cable and adjusted it,
and I even took the derailleur apart, cleaned and lubricated it, and reassembled it, but it’s still not quite right.
Maybe the spring tension is weak? Compared to Corima’s Dura-Ace,
what I really want is Paul, then Mavic, then Campagnolo, in that order.
Both Paul and Mavic are discontinued—only used ones are available.
I’m drawn to their rugged design, but honestly I can’t justify spending 30,000 or 40,000 yen on a derailleur.
So I went with Campagnolo’s Veloce in black—budget-friendly.
The design is pretty decent, so I chose it.
The brakes are also Campagnolo Veloce skeleton model—budget-friendly.
The lightening holes are really nice.
Once you start picking expensive parts, there’s no end to it, so I don’t build them up too much—except for wheels.
The other day when I went to Fig Bike to buy cable, I found “Pedal No. 2” in stock,
so last night I went to the bookstore for a night ride and bought it, then headed home via Yamate, Route 246, and Mitsushuku.
I was sure it would end with No. 1, but I never expected No. 2 to come out…

Color, material, shape—lots of things.
I felt sick, so I slept, ate, took medicine, and felt better.
Tomorrow’s an inspection day too… Apparently friction in the afternoon.
