A customer with a Z1000R came in.
“Man, when I opened the cover, brake fluid was pouring out everywhere—it’s a mess.”
The exterior looks surprisingly clean.
Let me take a look anyway.
When I removed both calipers—
Corrosion everywhere, everywhere.
The seal was corroding on the inside, pushing up and deforming the seal, which caused the leak.
With no seal left, I cleaned everything thoroughly with hot water, polished it, and got the piston sliding smoothly.
I did a pressure test with the grip held tight—no leaks—so next we’ll replace the seal and we’re good to go.
After replacing the pads, the customer was happy with our comic strip and headed out.
Sweet.
