We finally made it.
Aiyu (Oi-jiao-chi)
Wow! So retro ★
The moment we walked in, there wasn’t a trace of friendliness!
This is the old-school shop style of “if you want to eat, come on in!” and it’s pretty cool.
We ordered iced aiyu.
The proprietress works the floor while her husband makes it in the back.
Here it comes! But it went to the wrong seat next to us—hey mister!
It finally arrived! Let’s dig in right away!
I only had the image of Baiyuan in my head,
but it was surprisingly gentle in flavor—to put it plainly, no punch to it.
It’s like eating shaved ice with agar jelly in it…
Not that I dislike it ★
Anyway, apparently an ant got into the bowl at the next table,
so the proprietress took it away and went to the back to tell her husband…
“There’s an ant in it!”
“They don’t want it anymore!”
“You (husband) rush to make it so fast that this is what happens!”
What was that all about?
Well, if you’re ever in the neighborhood, be sure to check out this local specialty!
