Going to cut threads on the circular saw
With a tapper, I can cut M8×1.25 in just 10 seconds ★
You really can buy time with the right tools.
Went with a pretty safe approach, but…
Using the original pedal, cut once, fit and weld
Remove the pressed-in rod end, weld once, fill it in, and cut threads with M6×P1.00
Removing the rod end slightly improves serviceability, or maybe not…
Spent most of today grinding away in the machine shop
