One thing after another—this GSF1200 never gets boring. We’ve modified two M7 bolts to M6.
The oil-cooled head cover mounting bolts are M7 P1.00. We have them in stock, but it’s not a size commonly used elsewhere.
Thread damage → let’s install a helicoil → oh no! M7 P1.00 → helicoil to M6 P1.00 and swap the bolt to M6 → done. That’s how it went.
The two on the left are M6 helicoils; the one on the right is on the verge of collapse. And the leftmost one has a helicoil installed quite deep, which was a real headache.
Beautifully restored and complete—I felt a little relieved.
