Let’s perform oil-cooled maintenance.
The bike we serviced before has finally come back, and we’re doing a recheck. It has good elasticity and the wear is smooth.
The black dirt in the grooves is Newtech NC100 grease.
• Prevent the damper groove shape’s contact area from thinning out the case
• Protect against gravel and other debris entering the grooves
• Keep the damper from hardening even slightly due to the grease’s oil content
We’ve been doing this for quite a while now.
The case is smooth and in pretty good condition. We felt satisfied with the results of the work.
We pack it in with a squish, then spread it around the entire circumference.
There’s barely any cam scuffing, and this is what the larger areas look like.
We could tell from the oil level gauge, but there’s quite a bit of sludge and it’s pretty dirty.
The cam chain tensioner is this automatic type. Though to be more precise, it works by having this spring tension push when the chain loosens.
Unless it gets really slack, it won’t push, so we check the balance and adjust as needed.
Looser is safer than too tight, and considering that the chain doesn’t stretch uniformly everywhere, we check and adjust accordingly.
