The inside is painted too, which is reassuring. Even the press-fit areas are painted, but it’s quite thin, so it must be hard to peel off.

Once installed, I check all the way around. I don’t know what the coaxial tolerance of the upper and lower parts of this race insertion is, but everything coexists with play and the mechanism operates. The more you measure and learn, the more you think… hmm?

I’m a fan of Neutech NC100, which has good workability and doesn’t sag easily in heat. I don’t think it will change dramatically. I’ll assemble it hoping the standard spec handling performance comes through.

There are many clamps and large tolerances in the stem shaft and top bridge.
Even the same model often has different characteristics from bike to bike, which is interesting.

Think about how to tighten without twisting. Steering tolerance specs vary by manufacturer, so when you’re stuck, it’s common—they’re not all the same.
