AS Watanabe unit replacement. I was amazed to see it was still attached with double-sided tape.
It’s better to install parts with removal in mind. This time I didn’t make a new plate; I reused the existing one as is. If you secure it with Dual Lock, the unit can be separated from the main body.
I can’t trust adhesive or Dual Lock forever when mounting something upside down. Using a bungee cord as insurance gives peace of mind.
I labeled the replacement date and mileage on the side with a label maker. Does the theory hold that “becoming middle-aged equals loving label makers”?
The owner asked me to check the carburetor synchronization, so I did. True to form, it was way out of sync.
After adjustment, the idle smoothed out perfectly and confidence went way up.
A motorcycle with good starting and stable idle is a pleasure to ride. The opposite is really nerve-wracking, even on a test ride.
