Pop it right open. This oil-cooled design has excellent serviceability. Twenty minutes and we’re at this stage.
No bolt to secure the slider. The threads on the arm side were damaged. Since the slider wasn’t secured, it was sliding around.
No major corrosion; the condition was excellent.
Removing the needle bearing—the speed and risk depend on how many specialized tools you have.
Well, we’re practiced at this, so removing just this much doesn’t take thirty minutes.
We installed a helicoil.
Parts we replaced, including the slider.
Cleaning reused parts feels good.
Polished and more beautiful than new.
And then we reassemble and rear maintenance is complete.
