I’ll cut it and use the lathe to shape it into a nested joint design.
I’ll bend the pipe with a bender. The amazing thing is you can pull off a 180-degree bend without stuffing it with sand! I absolutely don’t want to tell anyone about this tool.
I’ll cut the sole from SUS sheet and machine a radius on it.
The length and angle adjustments are already done.

Next I’ll bend a round rod and weld it to make the kickstand hook—or whatever you call it—while checking the position.
I’ll install the sole cover to give it a slightly more industrial look.
The spring is basically a double. Since you’re replacing it anyway, it’s good to reuse existing parts rather than going out of your way to use new ones.
This should be solid now. The spring works well, and the action is smooth and snappy with nice detent feel.
I sometimes see aftermarket stands that look like they’re doing ballet. I wish there was a better way to handle that…
