Let’s fabricate an inner fender.
It’s SUS304-HL, but if we let it float freely, we’ll be safe.
I didn’t have confidence making it in one go, so I fabricated it in sections and joined them together with spot welding.
The upper mounting point is tricky because the seat is super close. It won’t close unless it drops almost vertically, so I was puzzling over it while fabricating.
I spend more time measuring and thinking about how to make it without mistakes than actually making it.
The first one is always tough. Well, there probably won’t be a second one.
They want sheet metal attached to the ▲ area.
You’d think this should go smoothly, but a variable-angle shear seems risky, so I went with the safe bet of spot welding.
After making it, I realized we can mount quite a few electronic components here. That means even though the space under the seat is limited, it might work as a small storage compartment? That’s my hunch.
Once the damper and electrical parts arrive, we’ll need additional work to mount them. It’s getting tedious, so I’m putting this on hold for now.
