Bandit 1200 K6 Oil-cooled maintenance Carburettor maintenance + OH Front maintenance (Stem OH & Fork oil change)

Is the shop closed or something?

You can’t measure the scope of work by the number of bikes, you know.

We’re performing front maintenance (stem OH & fork oil change).

Just dirty bolts can make something look 20 years older, don’t you think?

We let the fully automatic polisher do the work while we prep, so it saves time.

The setup is perfect, so the threads are clean and undamaged (ΦωΦ)

I gave it a coat of Gun Coat matte black.

Wow, it’s completely different. Really feels great.

I’m replacing the stem bearings.

With all the equipment and tools on hand, I’m super fast at this job.

And that’s how the race came off.

The race side was pretty worn out. The grease had leaked out quite a bit.

I cut the retainer, fit it, and pull it up.

And that’s how it pulls out.

This tool is a bit pricey, but I wish it would become more common.

Sometimes it doesn’t come out on the first try, so please be careful.
*If it breaks, reposition and reassemble. Always lubricate before proceeding—it’s safer.

This is the only time I can clean it, so I scrub away—it’s the thought that counts, right?

I’m replacing the bearings with retainer ball bearings. (That’s all we stock at our shop.)

Lately I’ve been thinking… wouldn’t tapered roller bearings work just as well?

Check first, check second—that’s the routine. Same as always.

I gave it a light cleaning.

Now I understand why the lever position was so low! *It was touching slightly.

It was lowered because it was hitting.

I added a little stopper on both sides.

I applied Neutech NC100 and assembled it.

Try it—I promise you’ll be surprised, no adjustments needed.

The tire trick didn’t work as well…

Oh man, I kept worrying about it and worrying about it…

I think this looks good now.

Now we’re changing the fork oil.

The cap… won’t budge at all… but we managed to get through it.

I polished the cap area and restored it.

I worked the rod and inner tube, then vacuum-bled the air and adjusted the oil level.

The foam at the top looks heavy, but it’s not as thick as beer foam.
Some air bubbles are better removed, but I think the difference is minimal.

The Bandit 1200 BSR we did the other day.

Since there are so many components, I want to jot down the sequence before I forget.

We finished the exterior up through the standard wash.

I gave the reusable parts a Gun Coat finish.

We put the effort and expense where it really matters. It’s a tough call, but surprisingly fun.

Waiting for parts to arrive now.
