Let’s switch to the current setup plus a bit more and do a fresh reset.
Back then, we’d strip, fold, insert, and secure it with adhesive and ThreeBond. It was a setup with some uncertainty about grounding.
These days we can connect with terminals like these, so reliability and certainty are much improved.
If the terminal were a bit shorter and only the cord came out of the coil, I think durability would be even better.
I searched for such terminals back in the day but never found them.

Then we secure and bond it firmly with ThreeBond on top of that.
I’ve had the included rubber slip out before, so I don’t use it at all anymore.
The cord insertion point on the coil side is tapered, and it’s possible it could come loose from some impact.
By securing the cord this way and reducing one possible source of trouble, I hope both my customers and I can feel much more confident and at ease.
