I don’t hear about it on Katanas, but this GSX-R’s orange needle comes up in conversation now and then.
This speedometer has a mechanism that converts the drive ninety degrees.
When the conversion gear wears down, the movement gets stiff, and in bad cases it locks up—the speedometer cable twists and twists, and then all that built-up force releases at once and snaps.
If the speedometer cable just breaks, you’re lucky.
This orange needle was discontinued quite a while back.
Things are getting pretty rare.
The needle length is different from the Katana—so close!
