My First Grass Cutter “This One” Makita Cordless Split Motor MUX18D

It’s been a while since I’ve used a Makita product (*´ω｀*)
I have this inescapable fate of needing to mow the weeds.

I kept putting it off and considered outsourcing it,
which is one option,

but then I thought to myself…
After all,
I’m the type who wants to buy tools and do it myself.

By the way, I spent
nearly half a year
deliberating before finally deciding on “this one!”

This Makita split-type system broadly comes in
two categories:
“cordless and engine-powered”

I won’t explain it

The cordless models come in
18V/36V/40Vthree types.

Basically, the difference in voltage comes down to
power and torque.
You can think of it that way.

It’s like engine displacement
in engine-powered models.

So then, wouldn’t 40V be the most powerful?
That’s the logic.

But weight and size are also important factors.

To use a motorcycle analogy,
a liter bike is inconvenient for a 5km commute.
The most powerful isn’t always the best,
and choosing something that fits
your actual needs

will make things more satisfying.

Connection process
First, insert it firmly as shown in the image.

When fully inserted,
a red button pops out!
Insertion is now complete (*´ω｀*)

Finally,
turn the lock lever clockwise
to lock it in place and you’re done.

After that,
just press the power button
and select low/high speed.

Safety operation switch

You can’t press the lower switch unless you press the upper one too.
That’s the design.
We can’t have it running if it’s sitting on the ground.

In the end,
you won’t know until you use it.

Finding the right tool
for your needs
is challenging.
The top model might be overkill,
and the lower grade might fall short.
In all things,
this dilemma probably never ends.

What’s great about Makita is
“good resale value.”
There are shops that buy used ones,
and you can also sell on Yahoo Auctions or Mercari.

Quality products always have strong demand.
I haven’t started any modifications yet,
so I haven’t used it,
but I’m sure it’ll be great.
