Perfect 100 out of 100 shots: “Helicoil Revolution” Tangless Helicoil fans rapidly increasing? (*’ω’*)

Hello to all helicoil fans nationwide (*´ω`*)

Helicoil work on M6 and smaller sizes, it’s genuinely frustrating, isn’t it…
We’ve been using “tangless helicoils” for quite some time now.

We can insert them with almost perfect 100 out of 100 success. *After doing it about 1000 times, you might only make a few mistakes.
It’s a special tool that frees you from the frustration of helicoil work.

Benefits ( *´艸`) Easy insertion / No tang breaking & tang collection needed

  • No tang, so “no need to break and remove”
  • The insertion tool supports from inside, so “pitch skipping is less likely to occur”
  • Almost 100 out of 100 insertion possible
  • Compact design with short overall length

It’s almost like inserting a screw, very easy to insert helicoils (*´ω`*)V

The tangless helicoil coil has “grooves” cut into it, and the claws of the insertion tool catch on that part to insert it. It’s a very simple and ingenious tool.
Or rather,

“what’s the deal with the original tang-equipped helicoil insertion structure anyway?”
When it requires a technique to use, “hmm?” that’s how it feels, right?
Maybe it’s a reflection of an era when developing and manufacturing such tools had little merit and everything was handled by “manpower.”

I think probably almost 100% of experienced users would be amazed by it.

In the old days, only tang-equipped ones existed, so people had to “find the trick”

As shown in the image, the tang = only for insertion, it’s just a “hook” shape.

When the screw diameter is small, pitch skipping happens and it’s frustrating… Once insertion is complete, you have to
“break and remove” it.
The material is SUS304 with magnetic properties, so you can pick up the broken tang with a magnet.

When the hole goes through to the engine side, this task becomes troublesome…
You save the hassle of breaking and removing the tang (‘Д’) Nice!

The tang-equipped helicoil insertion tool I used to use.

Nowadays, only M7 and M10 get used with this tool.
Tangless doesn’t have M10 fine pitch P1.25 available. *Only M10-P1.5
When I occasionally try to insert M10-P1.25 with this tool, “ugh, what a hassle…”

Tools in this world have really improved so much, I think to myself wistfully.

Breaking the tang is nerve-wracking too.

I used to try to break it with the inner dimension as tight as possible so it wouldn’t escape, those are nostalgic memories now…

At the very end, it somehow bends deep inside? Haven’t you experienced that?

Even to switch over, the “insertion tool is quite expensive”

We have tangless insertion tools for M4/5/6/8 all lined up.
*For bikes, M10 is usually P1.25 but there’s no option for that.
*M7-P1.00 would be helpful too, but that’s not available either.

I’d really like you to develop and sell those if possible (*´ω`*)

The price is roughly 12,000 yen (excluding tax) per unit

You already have the tang-equipped one, right? Since you don’t use it that frequently, you might hesitate a bit.
But it inserts so reliably “switching is definitely worth it” I think.

“Short overall length and compact” design works even in tight spots

M4
M5
M6
M8

The red knob is about 80mm or so,
the blue knob is about 110mm long.

The overall length is very short, so insertion is possible even in tight spaces. This is a real advantage.

“Reliable insertion, compact, stress-free” – there’s a lot to gain

First, start with M6 and then M8 should cover most needs.
M4-M5 can be added as needed. *Things like carburetors and headlight rims

When almost anyone has access to such a tool, “more people can do repairs” = “fewer people in trouble” I think.
If you’re unsure, definitely try it! “Tangless helicoil” is really great.
