I was filming this work partway through “There’s no way I’ll finish today”
So I stopped.

Both the video and photos are incomplete… but let’s go with it~

Time flies… I’m jumping ahead quickly.

The GS1200SS is also a 20-year-old vehicle.
Soon you’ll need to disassemble the 4-carb setup or risk leaks and fuel passages (resin parts) becoming discontinued~ I’m sure.

Kawasaki OEM 16016-1061 is the same part and cheaper

It’s over 1,000 yen per unit more affordable than ordering Suzuki OEM.

Even the same part can vary greatly just by changing manufacturers, so it’s important to know about this.

The carb is Keihin! I’m always amazed when I see the actual fuel level

If the float level is correct, the actual fuel level is pretty much OK too.
The fuel level cutoff is also excellent, and it’s a moment where you feel the high quality of Keihin carbs.

It came out clean and shiny with baking soda blasting!

It looks almost like new now.
When the OEM carb is clean, the whole appearance really looks sharp.

And then! When I tried to assemble it, the wire is frayed?

It’s definitely in a state where it can’t be reused.
The GS1200SS throttle cable is already discontinued. These situations are really frustrating.

I’ll substitute with an aftermarket throttle cable for the Inazuma 400. The total length is about 110mm longer.
With the separate handlebars, there’s plenty of space so it worked fine.
This can also be used on the Inazuma 1200, so remember this as a swap option.

Both pull and return have no play or layout issues.

Possibly useful info? Insert the carb from the air cleaner side!

The air cleaner side joint is soft and can become deformed sometimes.
In those cases, you really struggle.

Before inserting into the intake manifold, insert it into the air cleaner box first.
This method only works because the carburetor is loose.

If it just won’t go in, try this.

Adjust TPS and sync, and it’s complete (*´ω｀*) Whew

TPS adjustment is super fast because I have a harness made for it.
Avoiding tedious work through tools… it’s subtly important.
