Finally, July is coming to an end today. Am I the only one feeling a subtle lingering heat?
Even so, it seems August will bring a heat wave too.
This year we enjoyed a touring trip to Hokkaido.
The tire tread was so worn that it ended up getting a puncture.
So I’m going to tackle the work smoothly.

After the puncture, it came in on a tow truck so it’s pretty dirty.
It’s dirty from getting rained on and covered in mud.
Since it’s not years of accumulated grime, just wiping it down without touching anything gets it surprisingly clean.
Cleaning is best done little by little.
I’ll quickly remove the tires, check the wheel balance alone, and then assemble them together with the tire balance.
And so the tire change is complete. This time I chose Bridgestone S23.
If you remove and wipe the chain case every time along with the wheels, future work becomes much easier.
I also cleaned the drive chain and gave it some attention.
When everything gets clean and moves smoothly, it feels really nice.
Time to change the engine oil.
Setting an oil change day seems to be working out well—oil sales have been really good.
It’s almost completely empty, so I’ll need to rush and order more before summer break.
It’s been used well and turned completely black.
Time to change the brake fluid.
It’s clear but subtly dirty.
It’s good to change brake fluid regularly at certain intervals.
During the change, you can also check the diaphragm condition and clean it, which is even better.
Just taking a quick look makes a huge difference in longevity.
Moving parts like levers, pedals, and side stands should get a light touch of oil during maintenance.
When the controls operate smoothly and return without any wasted motion, it feels really good.
If the battery is easily accessible, it’s worth charging regularly.
A fully charged battery will make the ignition more responsive.
Then it’s just a test ride and we’re done.
