The shaft itself gets crushed from the pounding.
The noise is loud, disturbing the neighbors, and considering the risks,
I’d rather avoid the job altogether.
I bought the electric hammer HM001G on a whim.
Hammer drill HR005G or electric hammer HM001G? I really had to think about it.
The hammer HM001G has an impact energy of 9.4 joules,
while the hammer drill HR005G has an impact energy of 8.0 joules.
The difference is 1.4 joules, but honestly I couldn’t tell how significant that is.
Since the main goal was to extract the shaft, I went with the electric hammer HM001G.
*I didn’t go for the top-tier 80V Max model.
The shaft specification is SDS-Max, solid and direct.
The shaft is 18 mm in diameter, so it’s robust and transmits force directly.
Attachment and removal are simple: “just insert to attach, release the lock and pull to remove.”
I’m constantly amazed by how tools keep evolving these days.
It’s hardened! Please grind it flat.
The bit I chose was BOSCH SDS-Max Bull Point 280 mm MAXBP-280S.
I tried applying the bit to see if it could cut, but it wasn’t practical.
I just ground it down quickly with a 200V belt sander.
