Could it be that the oil-cooled craze has spread to the Bandit 1200 as well?
*Sorry for the unflattering phrasing. The fact is it was the longest-selling model among nearly identical variants…
When you make it look like an illustration, it actually looks pretty cool.
I end up going cam-cam gulp (‘Д’)
For some reason, the Yoshimura ST-1 cam for oil-cooled engines is quite popular (*´ω`*)

So we’ll slot the cam sprocket.
You don’t need to make many slots.
We only adjust for one tooth. 3-5 degrees should be plenty.
Yoshimura cams are of such high quality that sometimes you get lucky and it’s fine as-is.
Rocker arms are like a married couple ♪ Replace them as a set

To avoid mysterious knocking sounds, a matched set is essential.
*Note that it won’t be as quiet as Honda engines.

We’ll also replace the cam chain slider (front).
*As I keep saying, the rear one can’t be replaced without splitting the case.
That blackness makes you wonder if it’s a surface treatment

That’s pretty awesome.
Since it’s installed, the only way to clean it is to wipe it
It’s humble but the most effective method.
Time flows on (*´ω`*)

A humble tip: “Lightly soak a soft cloth with engine conditioner”
Don’t make it soaking wet.
Just enough essence on the cloth is fine . Just wiping makes the dirt come right off .
I think it’s best to wipe it so there’s minimal residue.
We also adjusted the valve timing to Yoshimura specs.

When there’s a lot of cleaning, there are fewer photos…
I get so focused on the mundane work.
I’ll clean the head cover and such nicely and close it up tomorrow (*’ω’*)
To be continued
