Well, today is a death day (*´ω`*) Starting at 9 AM Printer broken → repair → won’t fix → insurance document damaged → looking for a printer and so on… It’s quite a hassle. Is it CANON? Or Epson? Once that’s decided, I’ll update later… Anyway, before you know it, it’s 3 PM and time to work!
You can reuse the inner tube! It’s more efficient if you can make it stepped, but… it’s plated… Front maintenance on clip-on handlebar bikes is subtly tedious.
Lifting a bike without an undertube is tough
Even when lifting, there aren’t many places to actually lift from. I carefully consider where to lift so it doesn’t tip over… and proceed.
Originally it’s for bicycles, but the process of removing bearings is the same. By tapping from four directions, it “doesn’t tilt easily” = smooth and error-free bombing (‘Д’)
All removed. Rarely seen clicking and clacking in recent times. This is surprising (*´ω`*) It was ridden quite a lot, I’d say. I’m sure it’ll be better, so no worries.
Looks pretty good? A nice example of what not to do~
After pressing in the race, I temporarily get a feel for the touch. With seals from this era, there’s no problem, but with older bikes “I want to seal it properly” the feeling is strong.
In other words, the seal is too effective “stiff” it is. Feeling beforehand whether the steering is heavy due to the seal being effective eliminates the need for readjustment later.
If you adjust the bearings to move smoothly on a bike with an effective seal, later “rattling” can occur, so please be careful~
For steering bearings, I use one with low viscosity that won’t break down from heat.
Between where I locked it by hand and an unbelievable point there’s a good position. Steering involves various factors, so I assemble it by judging position and movement.
Double nuts are the best (*´ω`*) With double nuts, you can apply a bit more preload and it’s not as affected by top bridge tightening. In other words, it’s a wonderful system that’s almost a one-shot definitive completion. *Customers probably don’t care much…
The wheel lifter is honestly addictive
After using it many times, you stop doing unnecessary lifting. You set the height by hand beforehand and adjust downward (making the wrench turning easier)
This is an efficient tool. So far, it’s in my best buy of the year (*´ω`*)
I cleaned the caliper and wet the plate parts (*´ω`*)
Single-piston calipers are all about the boots. When new, the rubber has flexibility and the movement becomes smooth. Please replace them every few years.
The brake disc is already due for replacement, so it’ll be a set with the next pad change. To be continued.
