GSX1200S Inazuma 1200 Oil-Cooled Katana Yoshimura ST-1 Cam Replacement

Yoshimura ST-1 camshaft, fever mode activated!

It might seem like I’m changing these frequently, but actually it’s not that often.
Since I’m used to working on the 1200 series, things move along smoothly!

This is what it looks like inside.
Since we did the oil-cooler maintenance the other day, it’s pretty much as expected—nice and clean.

What’s that poop-like stuff…?
It shows up occasionally, but is it oil components? Sludge buildup?

I’ll replace the cam chain guide too.
It’s a good idea to GET it while it’s still available.

If you’re planning an engine overhaul,
it’s good to pick up the tensioner side too, since you can’t replace it without splitting the case.

Well, there’s nothing particularly wrong (*´ω`*)

I soak a rag with engine conditioner and rub it with my fingers.
It’s pretty tedious, but it gets surprisingly clean.

Even though cleaning doesn’t boost performance,
it’s definitely a plus.

These holder-related items too

The dirt comes off very cleanly.
When I mount it directly, I wash it thoroughly on the cleaning stand.

I’m using “ Wako’s Engine Conditioner “.
Honestly, any brand works fine.

It’s a small joy when all the gaskets stick to the tensioner…
They peel off easily (*´ω`*)

The cam assembly is complete! ♪
Next is valve timing adjustment and the cam replacement is done.

That’s all for today—putting it on hold for now!

(*´ω`*) This time’s surprise discovery…!
