The process is: turn down the round bar, bend the round bar, cut out the plate, weld, electropolish, and wet blast.
We fastened it together with the mirror, so we’ll drill a hole in the mirror cover.

It’s rough positioning, but it’s far more reliable than eyeballing it.
Align the line with the base where the bracket protrudes.
Remove the bracket, secure and cover it, and the laser will illuminate exactly where you want to drill.
It’s perfect for when you want to drill holes in the undercowl bracket, grab bar, or pannier case.

Since the cover has an unusual shape, we’ll punch it out with a gasket punch and pliers.
It punches out cleanly like this. After that, just cut a slit with nippers and you’re all set.
