Let’s move forward with a blub-blub?
The idea came to me in the bath the day before… bubble bubble.
I’m thinking through about three different plans, and the key point is which one is simplest, has the fewest failure points, and offers the most flexibility.
I’m going to cut the existing meter bracket (XJR) and switch from the appetizing key cylinder boss to a plate-style mount.
First I’ll make a sample in aluminum, do a test fit, and then I’ll ponder… and ponder.
If it looks good, that’s the GO signal.
For now I’ve installed it like this.
Since I’m not sure what else might come up, the lightening holes are a treat for later.
Next is the question of where to mount the meter bracket.
I want to keep it as simple as possible, and since it’s a V-twin, I need to make sure vibration damping is adequate.
A bit of pondering ahead.
Should I just do the meter wiring first… or…
Oh right. Harley uses German connector maker DEUTSCH… I need to find it.
