The nut came off, but the shaft wouldn’t budge at all…. First, I measured the current sag while applying oil and tapping. That’s why there’s a perforated cardboard box on the opposite side.
After struggling for nearly an hour…. I finally got this far. Partway through, the question came up: “Is it bent?” But when I rotated it and looked, there was no significant runout, so I concluded it was seized and moved forward.
This is the worst corrosion I’ve ever seen…. The power of rust is truly remarkable.
I’m grateful to experience and learn from a case like this, and I’m moving forward with a positive attitude.
