The mirror was loose, so I tightened it at the base. I replaced it with a regular screw. *I think it was a tapping screw?

It’s the same with everything, but tightening plastic with metal bolts is a no-go.
It gets crushed and tries to open, ending up like this. Loose tightening and Loctite are honestly questionable too—if the plastic shrinks, the tightness loosens, which is somewhat risky.
Bolts should be torqued properly.
With a sleeve like this, you can tighten it properly.
And there’s no stress on the plastic. I think most Japanese OEM parts are done this way.
With no materials on hand and thinking about future recovery, I slightly enlarged it, lightly press-fit the sleeve, and soldered it with a soldering iron.
For now, anyway.
The undercowl vibration stop being a point might tear a hole.
So let’s make it a surface instead—that’s the plan. Trying to keep it as simple as possible.
Like this, we’re fitting it to the actual part. The sheet warped quite a bit.
I adjusted it by hand.
Putting a sponge on the battery terminal nut improves serviceability.

I didn’t have just the right material, so I made a U-shape from two L-angles.
That’s how we filled the gap.
Marking the replacement date will give you peace of mind going forward.
For professional use, P-TOUCH is recommended over Tepra.
• Adhesive barely remains (Tepra is pretty bad)
• Won’t dissolve in acetone (Tepra dissolves instantly)
I use the P900W, which works with a pretty wide range of tape.
