We’ve cleared up a bit of space, so we’ll disassemble the fork.
The old inverted fork structure is refreshingly simple.
The oil, despite being quite used, is surprisingly clean.
The inner race shows no runout. Some light surface rust is starting to develop.
This needs attention.
Then we work the rod in and out, pull a vacuum, adjust the oil level, and we’re done.
The calipers are nicely dirty. The right caliper’s 30mm piston is a bit stiff, but it’s within acceptable range, so we reused it this time.
Fork oil had gotten on the rotor as well. We degreased it, honed the surface, and got everything ready for the new pads.
