Doesn’t look like an Inazuma 1200? GSX1200S Inazuma 1200 oil-cooled Katana inspection main harness replacement Deco-mainte

Probably this is what it would look like in an intoxicated state… maybe.

We’re entering Deco-mainte.

Tire size, manufacturing date, wheel rim size, brand and so on—we’ll check all that.
Sometimes what seemed fine is actually no good anymore.

Motorcycle tires are expensive, aren’t they?

Let’s check the runout of the tire and wheel.
It seems like overseas manufacturers have noticeably less runout.

Well, since we’re going to wear them out anyway, maybe it doesn’t matter.

We’ll check the wheel bearings.
More often than not, it’s about checking the distance collar position and making adjustments rather than dealing with roughness.

Putting a wrench on the brake disc too will give us more peace of mind.

Poking around in the disc holes…

Surprisingly, a lot of debris comes out. Whether you can actually feel the difference from this cleaning is honestly questionable, but I think maintenance is all about the accumulation of small improvements.

So it was originally 4.5 mm… pretty niche.

Lightly lubricate the stroke areas and apply rust preventative between the top and stem.

If you treat the inner tubes well, you can easily get 50,000 kilometers out of them.

We cleaned it up quickly. If we add a restoration element to the work, it should stay clean and in good condition for longer.

We applied Gun Coat to the areas showing wear.

The pad pin wouldn’t come out…
I thought we might have to crack the caliper, but Bell Hammer

got it out. Glad it worked.

The brake pads are completely worn, so we’ll replace them.

The air cleaner element has been around for quite a while, so we’ll replace it this time.

We also cleaned up the inside of the box.

The axle shafts, front and rear, should be fine.

Cleaned and lubricated the speedometer cable and gears.

While doing this work, I find myself thinking, “This kind of work won’t exist anymore.”
Electric is convenient, but there’s no satisfaction in cleaning and lubricating, is there?

The throttle cable is already getting iffy too… it’s a bit melancholy.

We cleaned all three calipers. The seal movement is a bit stiff, so while it’s not urgent, an overhaul might be worth considering down the road.

We cleaned and lubricated the chain and cleaned the inside of the swingarm.

That’s all for today.
