GSX-R1100K Inspection and Tire Replacement

A few days before the inspection expires—and occasionally we see bikes where it’s already expired—

I came up with a good idea to address this.

Surprisingly, the inside gets pretty dirty, so thorough cleaning is necessary.

With stock wheels, the air valve position usually doesn’t seem to be the heaviest point…

If balance weights of 50 grams or more are needed, I start to wonder if something’s off.

You can’t measure tire balance on its own.
It’s best to at least check the wheel balance by itself and match the tire to it.

*By the way, Michelin tires don’t have a light point, but…

We replaced them,

We gave it a black gun coat.

I realized this isn’t just someone else’s problem…

The bodywork was actually cleaner than when it was purchased.
One day, when I removed the bike cover, the bodywork had become all spongy and soft.

I could tell gasoline was leaking from somewhere, but I couldn’t figure out where.
As I peeled away the spongy material, I discovered rust underneath.

This is after we drilled it, but when we found it, it was just a pinhole.

When I scratched it with a scribe, it went “crumble”—the whole area around it was crumbly and deteriorated…

Actually, the original condition might have been pretty rough too.

It would become a big hole, so we temporarily patched it with Devcon for now.

The GSXR is really a classic bike now.
