This is the process of disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.
Nothing special or out of the ordinary here.
An ultrasonic cleaner that saves a lot of labor. I’ve had one for quite a while, but the water supply, drainage, and cleaning are tedious. It feels somewhat similar in spirit to barrel polishing.
But it does clean pretty well.
That said, be warned—it won’t get it this clean! We believe in not overselling the dream of equipment and facilities. We just clean it lightly and nicely.
In business, we work quickly and efficiently to get things clean.
As I was disassembling and inspecting… hmm? That looks bent… what is this?
Did I pry it? The discontinued starter valve, so precious…
I kept making light cuts on the lathe and somehow managed to correct it… thank goodness it was brass.
Parts like this definitely get discontinued, so you should buy them while you can.
We can make them in aluminum or steel, but the cost is nowhere near that of original parts. For rubber and resin parts, get them while the originals are still available!
Sometimes you end up crying over hundreds of yen when you need thousands later.
This carburettor does so many different jobs in one place… I wish I had three hands…
I don’t check all the way to the actual fuel level. I check by float level.
*Avoiding putting the full weight of the float on itself might reduce mistakes.
The repro-style parts arrived, so I’m assembling them. Surprisingly normal and reassuring!
The hole diameter is slightly different, which is a minor letdown, but you’ll feel the difference when you ride it.
I’ll leave the synchronization at this point. When idle stabilizes, it sounds like a police motorcycle.
I hope it keeps running well for another few decades.
Even though you can’t see it when it’s clean… it feels good to work on something clean.

The bike was leaning pretty hard on the side stand… when I looked closely.
Both the base and the stand are pretty worn.
I built it up with welding and then corrected it—done.
That’s why we have machine tools for repair. Whether to repair or replace is up to each person. It feels like fixing and using things that still work builds more attachment to them.
