We disassembled it during Deco-mainte and were able to check the condition of each component. We also did some additional work. The 250’s tank looks really cool.
We’ll give the chain a thorough cleaning. Wiping it while rotating it lets you feel the condition of the chain.
We remove any removable parts and clean thoroughly.
We’ll replace worn parts and freshen things up.
We also clean the axle hole occasionally. Residual grease can sometimes cause grinding.
The distance collar is moving enough to fall off, so we’ll adjust it.
Wheel bearings don’t usually get rough these days. More often they tend to become loose. There’s quite a bit of play.
The axle shaft looks fine.
The condition doesn’t look too bad.
It had some nice one-sided wear. We’ll replace it.
After cleaning, we’ll lightly apply rust preventative oil and wipe it thoroughly. It has excellent rust prevention and dirt won’t stick as easily.
Sometimes dirt that was hard to remove with soap will come off with this.
The front caliper looks to be in decent shape. It moves smoothly.
We occasionally clean the throttle cable and replace the grease. If the wire isn’t broken, we want it to last a long time.
We’ll disassemble the throttle gear as much as possible, clean it, and apply fresh oil.
The underside of the front fender. It’s better to do these things when you can. It feels nice to have clean pants underneath.
The front axle was fine too.
We’ll clean the front axle hole too. There sure is a lot of unnecessary grease.
It’s brake disc reinforcement month. It definitely needed replacement.
