②GSX-R1100N Inspection, Front maintenance, Fork+

Let’s do some self-service point maintenance. The aluminum fittings look like this, so you need to be careful.

Amazingly, it doesn’t leak—I’m impressed.

First, the heart of the four-cylinder: synchronization.

You want the controls to be smooth. It’s nice when you can focus just on riding.

Too bad…

The situation is so-so, but the piston movement is nice.

I went with the newer setup.

If you can help it, don’t use thread locker.

The pin on the left caliper is stripped and won’t come out. There’s nothing I can do from the outside…

Split it, welded the nut, and the pin broke.

Welded again and it broke again.

So I decided to pry it out right at the edge.

You’d think I should use a milling machine, but I took a shortcut with the drill press. I guess when you get old, things just work out somehow.

Got it out—thank goodness.

I don’t want any chips in there, so let me check.

I’ll clean up the pad spring too.

The other side has a crack… hmm.
