Let’s do some self-service point maintenance. You can choose to do it yourself or let us handle it.
Here’s what we did this time:
• Fluid replacement 2 points × 3 = 6 points
• Caliper cleaning 2 points × 3 = 6 points
• Lever lubrication 1 point × 2 = 2 points
• Air filter inspection = 2 points
• Chain cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment = 2 points
• Side stand lubrication = 2 points
• Front fork lubrication = 1 point
• Clutch wire lubrication = 1 point
• Clutch release lubrication = 3 points (bonus)
• Throttle wire lubrication = 2 points
We went a bit over with about 27 points total.
The lever had very little oil on it. As for the clutch, the switch and lever weren’t working well together—the switch wouldn’t turn on. We trimmed the switch side.
The side stand had some oil, but it was well past its prime. Now it pops right out!
Lift the dust seal and lubricate the fork. The inner tube and oil seal will last much longer with proper lubrication.
The throttle was extremely stiff. The culprit was the return-side wire. The return side only had adjustment on the carburetor side, so when you opened the throttle, there was too much slack and it would twist and click-click-click.
Plus, the carburetor connection point was dry, which made it stiff. It’s smooth now.
The clutch was also stiff, so while we had the cover off, we cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted the release.
It’s in great shape now.
We cleaned the calipers. They looked good—minimal dirt, no rust on the pistons.
Even if the fluid looks clean, please have it replaced at least once a year.
The air filter is still in good condition.
