A warped disc won’t grip well, and old, hardened pads won’t grip either.

If there’s no problem, we won’t remove the housing. From the impact marks, it looks like there’s quite a shallow gap.

With modern materials and processing, it’s more reliable than cheap OEM parts.
In the old days we’d remove the backing plate and wave spring, but now I’m thinking that pushing from the back might actually improve engagement.
