I’m making lots of little improvements to boost workability. I really hate nuts in spots where my hands barely fit.
Tank as low and level as possible
While I was at it, I made a bracket for the digital tachometer too.
I wanted to weld at the center of the stem nut, but it was already nicely plated, so I crimped a POP nut (steel) instead.
The bracket tilts forward slightly, which might improve visibility a bit.
I don’t have velcro on hand, so this is a temporary fix for now. It looks nicer when the wiring is as hidden as possible.
Pan head bolts have a smaller hex width, which is a slight concern when you want solid clamping in critical spots.
The original machined stem’s variable stopper could be repositioned a bit to gain outer diameter and sink the head deeper—that might look better.
I think I ordered 10.9, but these look like 12.9?
I learned that plating 12.9 is a no-no, but nickel plating looks so clean that I actually like it.
Since it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, I took it for a test ride and topped off the fuel. Sorry for the wait! It’s almost done.
