The Sportster 1200 parts have arrived, so let’s get them installed.

The rear brake feel is off and the stopping power isn’t great, so I’ll clean the seal-related parts.
There’s some slight swelling, but I wonder if this is normal…
I’m not really a fan of just replacing everything with new parts, but I can’t find any other cause.

CCI metal rubber was also included. DOT 5 silicone-based fluid works too, apparently.

At first glance there’s nothing obviously wrong, but… well, new it is…

I’ll give it a light polish. Be careful not to over-polish, as that makes it rust more easily.

Seal inspection complete for safety. The brake feel has improved.
Initially the hydraulic pressure was inconsistent—sometimes there, sometimes not—and the rear caliper piston seal rollback was excessive, with the piston retracting too far.
Assuming “spongy feel = air in the system” is too simplistic.

The light comes on and off… then stops coming on… there’s continuity but no illumination.
High resistance = failure, right? I’m torn between going with a hydraulic switch or playing it safe with a mechanical one.
Ended up not finishing after all…
